Opening Day 2006
14 boats braved a cold blustery day to parade in front of our Commodore Sally Larson and her entourage of judges on MyGalSal. Power boats were: Perigee, Nimbus, Suz, Hey Jude, Kaviar, Gadzooks, Gaudeamus and Pipedream. Sailboats included: Hobie Dog, Whiffler, Vancourier, Desire and Bluefish. To see pictures click here

Journey to Juneau
The Prince Rupert Rowing and Yacht Club-known for its wind and tricky current-did not disappoint. Being the slowest boat of the trio and arriving last, there was no float space available for Pelican when it arrived. (continued)

Gourmet Cruise, October 1-3
A total of 581 lineal feet of boats (16 in all) attended some or all of the gourmet cruise. The cruise began on Friday in beautiful weather provided by Gordy who was in charge of the weather. After a chart hour aboard Sockeye, the first dinner was at the Friday Harbor House with individual selections from an excellent menu. (for more)

First Annual Gals Getaway
Mates Cruise to Stuart Island
An enthusiastic group of twelve on four boats -- Gadzooks! (34' power catamaran), Oyster Catcher (31' Camano trawler), Miramar (56' Monk cruiser), Windrifter (42' Westsail) -- gathered for lunch on the dock at Reid Harbor, Stuart Island. It was mid-week but the bay was surprisingly full and only two boats found space at the dock, so one caught a buoy and one anchored. (for more)

Blackberry Port and Horseshoes!
Telegraph Harbour Weekend Cruise
A taste of Blackberry Port was the high point of the new Thetis Island Vineyard Tour given by Colin when 8 boats visited Telegraph Harbor this summer. This port is served in upscale restaurants in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island including the well-known Wikininish Inn. The berries are collected by the Penelakut Band of First Nations folks on Kuper Island. Kuper, once connected .... (more)

Whidbey Island Cruise
August 20 thru 22, five OIYC boats rendezvoused at Ann and Bill Carlstrom's home on Holmes Harbor, south Whidbey Island. Attending were John and Margaret Greever (Gaudeamus), Wally and Mebs Gilliam (Gadzooks!), Bill and Hattie Dixon (Vancourier), Ray, Kathy and Lucy Hendrickson (Tryphena).

30th Annual Victoria Days Cruise

Our club has participated in the colorful parade of boats in front of the grand old Empress Hotel each year. While those in British Columbia celebrate being an independent country and province with a parade and waterfront entertainment, we on the boats help open Victoria's boating season as we decorate our boats ...
