ORCAS YOUTH SAILING
PROGRAM
Orcas Island Yacht Club’s nonprofit Junior Sailing Program has been a tremendous success over the last 10 summers. With attendance reaching over 100 students, it has become one of the largest summeryouth activities on the island.
Through an association with the Orcas Island School District and the generosity of Yacht Club and community members, a fleet of Prams, FJs and Lasers has been made available creating a variety of sail training opportunities. All instruction is based on the US Sailing program for small boats and dinghies.
Summer sessions are offered for children between 7 and 15 years of age beginning at the end of June and running through the second week of August. For a registration form and information, log onto

SAIL ORCAS
Many of the youth who are introduced to sailing via Junior Sailing go forward to competitive sailboat racing with the Sail Orcas club team for Orcas High School students.
Sail Orcas is a volunteer foundation that exists to share the joy of sailing with both youth and adults by providing high quality instruction and affordable access to boats and facilities. They strive to teach this lifetime sport by promoting safe boat handling, teamwork, sportsmanship camaraderie and marine stewardships.
The Yacht Club has been very supportive of the activities of Sail Orcas and we have made available the Club’s docks and picnic shelter for the important work they do. Many of our Yacht Club members have contributed time, energy and resources to help this organization and the results that Sail Orcas have achieved is remarkable.
