THE PLAN AT ROCHE HARBOR

Those of you that have attended the race in past years pretty well know the lay of the land at Roche Harbor, but here is a quick overview.

Contact the Harbor Master on 78A for slip assignment.

Accommodations have pretty well filled up at Roche, however they will put you on a waiting list, in case something opens up. (Like two people from the same boat made reservations.) Their number is 800-451-8910, and their website is www.rocheharbor.com

Other accommodations in the area include small cabins @ Snug Harbor Resort, in Mitchell Bay, near the finish line (also accessible by boat, watch your depth), 378-4762, and Lonesome Cove Resort on the North Shore, also small cabins, 378-4477. There are numerous B&B’s all over the Island, contact the Chamber of Commerce, 378-5240, they can tell you what is nearby, and of course there are hotels in Friday Harbor.

Race Headquarters will be located at the Party Barge at the bottom of the ramp on the main dock. We have the use of two covered 40 x 40ft floats, with side curtains and heaters! The Friday Harbor Sailing Club will be our hosts and will have 3 big BBQ grills set up for our use. FHSC will provide BBQ tools, paper plates, napkins, and utensils. Bring your own meat to grill, and side dishes as you want. The Roche Harbor Company Store will stock up on grilling favorites, and your favorite libations (and you can even put in a special pre-order,  market@rocheharbor.com ).  There obviously isn’t room for everyone to sit down and eat at the same time, so we expect folks to move through to accommodate others. Additionally we will have two kegs of free beer. You may bring your own beverages, be they alcoholic or not. HOWEVER, all open containers must remain on the docks! You may not take your drinks beyond the ramp! People have been really good about this rule in the past, let’s keep it that way! Please be sure your crews understand this rule.

If you want a night out, the Roche Harbor Dining Room will be open 5PM-10PM, serving off the regular menu. Advance reservations are required by Tuesday  Nov 2nd. 800-451-8910. Additionally the bar will be open 5-12PM. Another popular option for those who have rented condo’s, is to prepare a crew meal in the unit itself. Lastly, you can catch a cab to Friday Harbor and eat at one of the many establishments in town. The Limekiln Café is normally open 8AM to 2PM for breakfast and lunch, however, Sunday morning they will open early, 7AM, however it is a fairly small establishment.

Whatever you choose, please do stop by The Barge or bar to check race results and party with the fleet!
